Orange Kloof Hiking Trail
The hike starts at Silvermine Dam – Silvermine is located within the Cape Floral Kingdom one of the most diverse of the six floral kingdoms in the world. The walk takes the hikers to the tented camp in Orange Kloof, a restricted area. The Afromontane forest and the scenery surrounding Orange Kloof compels you to relax and be at peace with yourself. The tented accommodation is located within the lush trees – the whole set up is re-invigorating.
The next day, hikers walk, via Disa Gorge towards the Arial Cable Way Station where they will be ferried down by the Cable Car.
Overnight Tents
We have four, two sleeper tents and one four sleeper tent.
Hikers must bring their own sleeping bags and pillows
Adjacent to the tents are showers with hot and cold water
Communal Kitchen
The hike is self-catered with a kitchen where hikers can prepare their meals.
The kitchen has a two-plate gas stove.
Hikers must bring their own kitchen utensils

Permit fees to enter Orange Kloof and Disa Gorge are included in the actual price of the hike.The Cable Car ticket down to lower Cable Way Station is included in the price, as are guide fees.
Extra Information
What to take
- Good hiking shoes and warm socks
- A comfortable daypack for water, snacks and rain gear
- A small suitcase with your clothes and toiletries – this will be portered to your accommodation
- Wet weather gear: a good raincoat
- Clothing for warm and cool weather
- A hat and sunscreen
- Binoculars and camera
- A book to relax with in the evenings
Climate
- Winter rainfall
- The highest rainfall period is between June to August
- Average winter temperatures vary between -1 degrees and 19 degrees Celsius
- Summer temperatures vary between 20 degrees and 32 degrees Celsius
- Strong winds feature prominently with a strong south Easter dominating summer months – this wind has earned itself the nickname of the Cape Doctor as it blows pollutions from the city
- As the weather on the peninsula can change three times in a day always ensure you have warm/wet weather gear, a sun hat, water, sun block and an energy snack.
