Mountain Destinations
Mount Currie
Mount Currie is the only formally protected area in East Griqualand and attracts visitors who enjoy relaxing in a scenic setting, walking or indulging in a little bird watching.
The reserve boasts a bird list of over 220 recorded species with striped flufftails common in the wetter areas and the bearded vulture frequently seen when climbing Mt. Currie.
Crystal Lake is a wonderful place for boating, birding and fresh water fishing.
The history of the reserve is interesting enough to warrant National Monument status, as the reserve stands on an historic laager site surrounded by the graves of early pioneer settlers.
A further monument inside the reserve pays tribute to former Boy Scouts who fell in action in East Africa during the First World War.
