Knysna Lake Area
The Knysna Lake Area is set in the heart of the Garden Route, the beautiful Knysna Lake Area is home to the well-known and endangered Knysna Seahorse plus a large diversity of marine life. The area is dominated by the Knysna Heads the route known to only a few in and out of the lagoon. Visitors to the area can either stay in accommodation in and around Knysna or in the nearby Wilderness National Park, which offers accommodation in either Forest Huts, Chalets or campsites.

Knysna National Lake Area offers no accommodation but the picturesque town of Knysna provides a wide variety of privately run accommodation.

Birdlife
- More than 280 species of birds are listed in and around Knysna and many water birds abound on Thesen Islands, Steenbok Park and further afield at Groenvlei and Swartvlei Lakes along the Rheendal Ramble.
Forest Walks
- The nearby forests provide ample opportunity for leisurely walks or picnics, short hikes or, for the serious hiker, more strenuous day walks; plus a number of biking trails for cyclists.
